7 Must-Know Bridal Beauty Secrets From the Middle East

7 Must-Know Bridal Beauty Secrets From the Middle East

"In the Middle East, bridal beauty prep begins three months prior and includes an exfoliating Moroccan Hammam every two weeks," Hamdan tells us. What exactly is a Moroccan Hammam? Basically, a bride is covered with an "olive oil–based black soap and left to steam," which, Hamdan explains, is supposed to cleanse and hydrate the skin and prepare it for the next step: exfoliation. "After a 15-minute steam, the soap is washed off, and a scrub using a special Moroccan mitt is performed on the whole body—not one centimeter of skin is left unscrubbed!" she says. And that's not all: After the scrub is washed off, a clay mask is applied to your entire body ("The mineral-rich clay is able to penetrate better to soften, hydrate, and draw out impurities"), then rinsed off, followed by a soothing massage of moisturizing oils. The finishing touch? A cup of sweet green Moroccan tea.

Note: You can re-create this body treatment on yourself with a Moroccan mitt, like this one[1] from Chaacoca, and a nourishing body oil, like Shiffa's Soothing Body Oil ($81).[2]
