As of Friday, you'll no longer have to head to New York City[1] to get to an actual Birchbox[2] store. The popular beauty sample box delivery service has teamed up with Gap to open pop-ups in seven flagship Gap locations in San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston (as well as New York City). And although specific offerings will vary from store to store, the overall idea is that the space will be a place where men and women can check out the boxes in person and enroll in a three-month starter membership for $30.
Additionally, the New York City and Houston locations will have Try Bars where shoppers can experiment with different trends. And you'll also find full-sized makeup, hair, fragrance, and skin care products, and build-your-own boxes in both New York and San Francisco.
According to Jerry Brandehoff, vice president of merchandising at Gap, the partnership came about because Birchbox "[wants] to create a special moment that drives a deeper engagement with them and also brings an element of surprise."
The mini-stores will stay open through the end of July so you can stop by all summer. Find out more about them at gap.com[3]. For those of you not in one of those cities, you can still subscribe to the service as usual for $10 a month here[4].
