Today, Miley Cyrus[1]—who has proven herself to be one of the most inspiring and unapologetically outspoken people on the planet—announced a totally cool partnership with Instagram. As part of her Happy Hippie campaign, she's launching #Instapride, a photo series snapped by the singer herself "to share the stories of transgender and gender expansive people from around the country."

She kicked things off today with Leo, a 19-year-old Michigan resident who has been in the process of transitioning for six years. In an interview with the Happy Hippie Foundation, he talked about the challenges he's faced since coming out, misconceptions he's dealt with, and the importance of always doing what's right for you. (He also shared that he, like you, loves One Direction and that his #1 karaoke song is "Best Song Ever," which, same.)

When asked how he identifies himself, Leo says that while he sees himself as a trans man, he also identifies as a writer, a filmmaker, a photographer, and a Gleek, among many, many other things. In short: We're not defined by labels. Identities are multi-layered and complex. Like Leo, you're lots of things. And that's what makes you awesome.

Read Leo's entire interview[3], and keep an eye on Miley's Instagram this week as she unveils the rest of her photo series.
