Here's more about how it works. When you first register the app, you enter your age, gender, height, weight, and how active you are. Then the app will calculate how much water you need to drink on a daily basis. Using your location, it can also adjust your daily water goal depending on temperature, humidity, elevation, and your activity levels. The sensor in the bottle speaks to the app, so in addition to glowing, the app on your phone will generate a simple screen with a graphic of a water droplet that shows your progress with a message, for instance, "30 %—about 2 more bottles to go." It will send a push notification that shows up on your phone with the cute little note: "Hi! It's time to drink more water." It also shows daily/weekly history, so you can notice patterns like that you only ever drink 30 percent of your daily water on Tuesdays (and figure out why that is/change it).
The HidrateMe founders only asked for $35,000 on Kickstarter, yet to date, they've raised $219,00 and counting, with 34 days left in the campaign to go. The bottles are expected to go into production this summer, with shipments going out this winter. Pretty cool idea, huh? We cannot wait to get our hands on one.
