If your thumb is tired from swiping right, or you're going cross-eyed while gazing at a million could-be-good matches, a new app that's launching today[1] has found an alternative solution. Once[2] uses real, live matchmakers to sift through the options and send you just one carefully-selected guy or girl each day.
At noon, Once's professional matchmakers send you a match based on preferences you select when you sign up, such as distance, age, sexuality, ethnicity, and religion, according to the app's site. You'll have 24 hours to exclusively interact with your match—or pass, of course, if sparks don't fly.
"It's a lot like being at a bar and catching someone glancing in your same direction—you need to act in real time," according to the app. But if you ever say no and then second-guess your snap decision, you can use the app to "rematch" with one of its previous recommendations.
"Dating apps today all face the same problem: Users are heavily bombarded by matches, messages and likes," says Jean Meyer, CEO of Once. "Weeding out unsuitable matches is both difficult and time consuming. Once solves this problem by screening users for authenticity and handpicking quality, custom matches for each and every user. Once prefers quality over quantity—any day and everyday."
Truth. We know how overwhelming it can feel (especially as a woman) to search for a quality guy when the quantity is daunting (and, frankly, distracting). This could be a nice, simply way to date if you feel like mainstream dating apps are just too much for you.
