One of the most heart-wrenching stories circulating around the internet this week is the one of Texas firefighter Aaron VanRiper, who arrived at a car crash scene only to discover it was his own family involved in the accident. His wife, Amber, is still in the hospital after undergoing a nine-hour pelvic surgery, and his son, Jonathan, was released after his arm and leg were operated on.
This story alone is bound to make anyone have a good sob fest, but that quickly turned into full waterfall-mode happy tears when Taylor Swift[1] made a $15,000 donation to the family. After a GoFundMe account was set up to help the family with all their medical bills, Tay saw the story and made a huge contribution to help them out. And it stuck out like a sore thumb:
