You know how you're secretly jealous of people who have twins? Okay maybe it's just us, but seriously, how cool would that be? Well, even if you weren't given a biological look-alike, there's still a pretty good chance you have a twin stranger somewhere out there. And one project is going to try and help you find them!
Three friends in Ireland wanted to find their dopplegängers so they created twinstrangers.com[1], a social networking website that helps people around the world find others who look just like them.
Here's how it works: After registering on the site, you'll upload your picture and tick some boxes that describe your facial features, such as how your eyes and nose are shaped. Then, the site will match you with others who ticked the same boxes. Only when you have a match will your picture be shared with others, and you'll also see the pics of those who matched with you. If someone doesn't look like you at all, you can remove them from your list. But if you see a resemblance, you can bask in the glory of finding your twin stranger (lucky you!) And don't worry—your contact info will be kept private unless you both agree you want to meet up.
One of the founders of the project, Niamh Geaney, found not one, but TWO real life twin strangers through the project. Check out this video to see her meeting the second one IRL for the first time:
