Could a Princess Diaries 3 Be Happening? Plus, More Major Disney Movie Updates

A lot has been brewing in the wide world of Disney movies recently, and it's all good great things. Let's get right down to all the buzzworthy developments that have us pumped, starting with...

A Princess Diaries 3 is potentially in the works. According to the Tracking Board[1], Disney is officially moving forward with a third installment of the movies that helped catapult Anne Hathaway to fame back in the early 2000s. The Tracking Board's record is typically 50-50 with these calls, but a tweet[2] from Heather Matarazzo (who played BFF Lily in the films) makes the news seem more promising. No word if Shonda Rhimes, Chris Pine, Julie Andrews, or Hathaway (who all played a part in the last film, The Royal Engagement) will be back.

Maleficent 2[3] is a go. Deadline[4] reports that Disney is working on a sequel of the 2014 hit starring Angelina Jolie. Current plans include Linda Woolverton (who wrote the first screenplay and several other Disney hits) writing the sequel, with Jolie in mind to reprise her role.

And the live-action Beauty and the Beast[5] (starring Emma Watson!) will stray from the animated original. In addition to adding new characters, the live-action version will also include three new Alan Menken and Tim Rice songs, according to a recent talk Menken gave at Lincoln Center. One of the songs is titled "Forever More," where the Beast (played by Dan Stevens) will sing about finally knowing what love is. Another is called "Days in the Sun," and is described as a lullaby sung by the enchanted objects, reminiscing about life before the curse.

Which development has you most excited?
