Who saw this coming? The folks at WWD have mapped out Sephora's best-selling lipsticks around the world[1], and the winner from the U.S. is one you'd never guess.
It's not a bright eye-catching shade. It's not a classic we've heard about for years like Clinique Black Honey[2].
It's Kat Von D Studded Lipstick in Lolita ($21, sephora.com[3]), a matte dusty rose color that's currently out of stock on the Sephora site, but you can still pick up on Amazon[4]. It's a long-wearing, soft almost-nude that works on every skin tone on the spectrum, so you can see how it would be a popular choice. But the best-seller? Truly surprising. Perhaps it's proof that the soft lipstick trend we saw at the Oscars earlier this year[5] has really taken off across the country.
